Crying Dog in Shelter Finds New Home After Video Goes Viral on Facebook

Get your tissues ready, folks.

A fairy tale ending—that’s what it all feels like. Major, a 4-year-old terrier pit bull mix, is finally going home—not any other shelter home but his own home. After spending over 260 days at the Humane Society for Hamilton County in Indiana, Major is getting adopted.

Earlier this year, Major was brought in as a stray, and although the shelter contacted the number on his microchip, his family never showed up to reclaim him.

Major went through immense emotional stress, often crying endlessly inside his kennel. The shelter’s effort to find him a new home led them to post about him on social media platforms. His tears touched hearts. The Facebook post ended up garnering over 260,000 views.

And finally, the efforts paid off! Major’s heartwarming story reached a vast audience and he was adopted by a loving family. The shelter staff shared a video on 18th May of Major joyfully saying goodbye to the shelter staff as he left with his new family. *sniffs*  🤧

We have a happy ending!

The Humane Society thanked everyone who shared Major’s story! The widespread support and love played a key role in finding him a new home. With a mix of smiles and tears, the shelter’s staff expressed missing Major’s presence and celebrated his new beginning.

Many animals still need homes. The shelter highlighted the stress these animals go through in the shelter and urged people to consider adopting! Because every dog has a story and deserves love, care, and a safe place to call home.
